Welcome to Zuckerfreierlei
I'm Kathrin Back, born in 1983, the founder of Zuckerfreierlei, a recipe developer, soon-to-be cookbook author, and a nutritionist in training. My passion is a diet that's anti-inflammatory, lipedema-friendly, sugar-free, and low-fat, without refined sugar, sugar substitutes, or oil.
What does “anti-inflammatory” actually mean?
An anti-inflammatory diet supports the body in reducing silent inflammation—those inflammatory processes that often go unnoticed but can promote chronic diseases. It focuses on natural, nutrient-rich foods and avoids processed fats, sugar, and additives.
Why all this?
My journey began in 2007 – after several fistula surgeries, a leaky gut diagnosis, and the search for a way to truly help my body. The diagnosis of lipedema in 2020 and my energy slump after the birth of my daughter in December 2018 finally gave me the impetus to change my life. Since then, I've been living mostly sugar-free, and since 2025, also low-fat, with great success: less pain, no more PMS, no more toothache, and significantly more energy.
I would like to share these experiences because I am convinced that they can help others too.

My mission
I want to show women with lipedema that nutrition can help, and that eating can still be fun. My cookbook is aimed not only at those affected, but also at family members who cook along and share in the experience. And, of course, at anyone who wants to follow an anti-inflammatory diet, either for preventative reasons or for chronic conditions.
